The Office of the Chief Press Secretary released a statement on the 17 November 2025 announcing Governor Otu’s approval for the immediate dissolution of the Local Government Service Commission Board. The action follows allegations and reports that the recruitment exercise carried out by the Commission was compromised by abuses of office and racketeering.
The statement described the findings as “concerning,” a “betrayal of public trust” and “an affront to the ethics of service.” In response, the Governor has ordered the suspension of the compromised recruitment process and directed that the exercise remain suspended pending a fresh recruitment drive that will be transparent and strictly merit-based.
